About

Howdy! I’m foodie, Oops! I’m Raji Suresh.

And cheatdayrecipe.com is all about Calories don’t Count on Cheat Day!

I’m the creator and writer of cheatdayrecipe and wife of an IT professional and a photo freak, my husby Suresh who features the freshness, aroma and taste of my food through his clicks and of course the whole and sole reason behind this blog. Then there are these two critiques, who call me mommy and one more on the way to keep me motivated to create new recipes and to make some extraordinary innovation in the existing recipes that will match the taste buds of all age groups.

Dubai is the best suitable place to live for any Indian just like me, who believes food is not just for the body but for the soul. There is

a rich and diverse Asian food scene in Dubai, largely thanks to the sizable Indian and Pakistani communities, which is why I love to modify most of the recipes to give them the authentic Indian masala touch. Dubai has also well served my thirst as a wanderlust and shopaholic.

Evolution of cheatdayrecipe.com

My Mom always believed that whatever comes at a particular time is a blessing from God, and that’s one of the main reason she never forced me to enter kitchen until I got married. Her patience and husby’s confidence on me was well paid soon after I started cooking. Apparently, my intention of cooking was just to shower pure love on my family. Then one fine day this happened.

Yes! Won first place in a live cookery competition among 20 contestants in 2011(Food Fiesta 2011, in LULU hypermarket Al Qusais, Dubai), which insanely induced me to start posting pictures of my dishes in Facebook and WhatsApp. And within no time my comments page were filled with ‘recipe please!’ followed by many doubts in making them, which made me really hungry to look for a proper dais to display all my dishes in detail. Then the bell rings to give birth to wowslurp.blogspot.com(2011), which is now the cheatdayrecipe.com (2019). Thanks to all my friends and relatives for being a super motivation to start up with this blog, and no doubt, it’s the IT head in designing my blog so impressively.

Further on cheatdayrecipe

Initially, wowslurp.blogspot.com focused on inspiring others to try multi cuisine and how a bit of change in a recipe can give that slurp touch to the food. Each recipe in this site has been tried and tested many times before posting, and the result of such lip smacking dishes is, breaking the quantity restriction on food, that results in one common issue ’weight gain’! Then the battle of wills begins, if to ‘eat for the body you want or for the body you have’. After a lot of struggle in losing weight I figured out that restrictive diets for a prolonged time build up so much frustrations and over time they often cause Cravings and Binges. So, I decided to have a ‘cheat’ day every single week while dieting under the notion ‘one cheat meal won’t make you fat just like one clean meal won’t make you lean.’ The  quotes signifies, it’s not really cheating – it’s an important part of keeping my body from freaking out over my lowered intake the other 6 days, so it won’t decide I’m starving to death and store every damn calorie I eat. Believe it or not, it works wonders with losing weight or maintaining a healthy weight, as it helps in controlling your intake for the rest of the days. This provoked me to rename wowslurp.blogspot.com to cheatdayrecipe.com. The recipes in this blog focuses on settling down cravings by giving a persisting taste to keep the weight-watchers determined to stay focused in their goal. So, instead of wallowing in what you can’t have, let’s make the choice to celebrate what we can have. I also believe, that this blog will inspire many of you to cook and salivate to eat the gourmet food. On a related note, I love sharing the most excited recipes that’ll grab the attention of a picky eater who is longing to experience a healthy weight gain and persuade the weight-watchers to have at least one cheat day in a week, which may help in filling the holes of frustration in your heart.

Bells and Whistles

I’m happy to use this space to regularly post pictures of my passion outside kitchen – from photos of my exploration, to handcrafted creations, to refurbishing the house as kids’ friendly, to accomplishments, to life as a mother of three striving to stay fit without compromising on food and family.

I’m eager to get in touch with you all and know more about my cooking through your feedback on my recipes. It’s really appreciated if you could share pictures of the recipes you tried from my blog.
